Ramblings of a bomber pilot
Ramblings of a Bomber Pilot is a feature-length documentary telling the story of Captain Allen, a WWII pilot who served in the Atlantic Theater and made the ultimate sacrifice while serving his country. I was brought onto the project to develop the film's poster and supporting marketing materials, creating a visual identity that honored the historical significance and personal nature of his story.
Project Goals & Solution
The challenge was to build the visual direction around a limited collection of original photographs of Captain Allen, many of which were more than 80 years old and required significant restoration before they could be incorporated into the final artwork.
I began by digitally restoring and preparing the archival photography, then colorizing selected imagery to give the campaign a greater sense of depth and immediacy while preserving its historical character. From there, I developed the typography, composition, and supporting visual elements that ultimately became the documentary's primary poster and marketing materials.
The final direction combines authentic historical imagery with a cinematic visual treatment designed to honor Captain Allen's story while giving the documentary a compelling and recognizable identity.
